    Was founded by John Joyce Carter in 1893. It soon became a subsidiary of Standard Oil. Later, it would prove significant to the development of Exxon.

  • In 1915, Carter moved its headquarters to Tulsa

    Carter was an innovative and dynamic firm, and it played a formative role in the development of Oklahoma’s ‘oil patch’.

  • 1950 - 1960
  • Humble Oil also had service/gas stations branded as "Carter" in Colorado.

    They were changed to ENCO in the early 60's. Though the Enco brand was discontinued in Ohio, it was rolled out in other non-Esso states, including service stations in the Midwestern U.S. operated by Jersey affiliate Pate Oil and in the Pacific Northwest by affiliate Carter Oil.

    When the North American Standard Oil Company (Creole in Venezuela), nowadays known as Exxon-Mobil, launched its business operations in Venezuela.

  • Carter became a recognized brand throughout the United States because they formed an extensive network of gas stations and its emblem appeared on all road maps of the United States.

  • Carteroil continued its expansion as a brand

    By opening markets in Colombia, Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala, as well as other countries in Latin America. In order be able to provide competitive prices and high-quality products, Carteroil began to produce lubricants in Houston, Texas for local distribution and export.

  • In 2019, CARTEROIL USA Inc.

    It is a company based in Houston, Texas, with the re-launching of this brand, the company aims to introduce new products, as well as keep manufacturing its current ones, always in compliance with The American Petroleum Institute (API) standards.
